System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition is an upcoming source port of System Shock 2 developed by Nightdive Studios. It was announced on the 20th System Shock 2 anniversary stream on 11th August 2019 and confirmed in a tweet. The Enhanced Edition was supposed to be released alongside the remake of the original System Shock, but it wasn't the case and instead was delayed.

Description[]

The original System Shock 2 is a genre-defining experience that established innovative gameplay mechanics that are a staple of the FPS and RPG genre today. Oft referred to as the pinnacle of the immersive sim genre, it has gone on to inspire some of the greatest titles of our generation with games including Deus Ex and Bioshock.

System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition modernizes the 1999 sci-fi horror classic using Nightdive Studios’ proprietary KEX Engine for a definitive version of the game featuring updated visuals, enhanced cutscenes, and up to 4K 120 FPS performance.

Improvements to gameplay, updated co-op multiplayer, enhanced M&K and gamepad controller support, achievements, numerous bug fixes, expanded localization, and official support for fan mods and missions await new and returning players alike.

In System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, you awake from the cold chill of your cryo-tube to discover cybernetic implants grafted to your flesh and the crew of the starship Von Braun slaughtered. Infected lifeforms roam the halls, their screams and moans beckoning you to join them. Their master, the rogue artificial intelligence known as SHODAN, taunts and ridicules your feeble attempt to unravel the horrifying mystery of the derelict starship. Your training has prepared you for this.

Discover how a haunting story, riveting gameplay, and a terrifying atmosphere have made System Shock 2 one of the greatest games of all time.
