For the enemy in the Original Game, see Serv-Bot.

The Serv-Bot is an enemy encountered in System Shock (Remake).

Overview[]

Serv(ice) Bots are self-propelled snack bars and servants, subverted to deadlier causes by SHODAN and the part of the rotating text on their displays warning about "injury or death" is now a cruelly self-fulfilling prophecy. They also can speak, and given their role, sometimes edible items can be found on their bodies.

They are the first enemies of any kind that the Hacker will encounter aboard Citadel Station, a few being stationed immediately outside the starting room on the Medical level. They are found mostly there and at the Executive Level.

Strategy[]

Tactical Analysis[]

They have two melee attacks, a basic swipe and a 'spindash' consisting of swirling their manipulators in a circle while floating towards you. While not especially deadly alone they can quickly become a problem in numbers along with any mutants shambling nearby.

They are easily dispatched with just about any weapon, including the lead pipe and the wrench. Using heavier weaponry on these enemies such as the Mag-Pulse Rifle will make short work of them, but is quite overkill and the ammo is better saved for more dangerous foes.

A Sparqbeam is an excellent, cheap and efficient solution. The serv-bot is barely armored and has a very low health pool so they can be destroyed in just a couple shots on the "High" setting of the sidearm, while using Overcharge is severely overkill.

Overall Strategy[]

These enemies are fodder, only dangerous in great numbers or when working in tandem with other hostiles where the serv-bot can distract the player while other enemies do the damage.

These robots will occasionally drop patches and food as loot, as well as junk items to be recycled. Overall, it's rarely worth "investing" any of your ammunition into defeating them and energy weapons or melee weapons are the most optimal solution.
