For the explosive in the Original Game, see Land Mine.

Proximity Mine is an explosive in System Shock. Compared to the original game, the remake version has received a number of appearance changes.

Overview[]

The Proximity Mine is first found at the beginning of the Medical Deck. The mine will explode when an enemy (or player) enters its proximity, dealing heavy damage. The mine can be thrown directly at enemies to explode on impact or it can be planted of most surfaces. Planted mines can be detonated by running past by them using turbo boots or shooting them with any ranged weapon, as well as using another explosive to trigger it. Once thrown, there's no way to pick it up.

Cyborg Assassins will sometimes throw one of these in the general direction of the player. Where it ends up is very unpredictable. Sometimes they may throw in not far enough or up on the wall in the players direction but too close to themselves, resulting in instant activation by the assassin himself and a free kill. Listen carefully for the 'pinging' noise of an active mine, lean around corners, and look behind/under world objects (like chairs) to see if it has attached itself in an odd spot.
