Summon Code portable battery
[Source]

A small battery with an energy port designed to interface with all standard powered devices, the Portable Battery contains energy charge and can be used to recharge an item such as the Laser Pistol or Powered Armor. Useful when an Energy Recharging Station is not available and the player is not Psi-capable.

Analysis[]

  • Portable Batteries are most useful for players specializing in Energy Weapons. Others will find them handy as well, as everyone can use Implants and a majority is capable of wearing Powered Armor. They can also charge dead Power Cells.
  • Replicators in Engineering Deck's Cargo Bay 2A and Hydroponics Deck's sector A sell Portable Batteries.
  • The UNN Rickenbacker does not contain any Recharge Stations (except the parts of the ship found within the Body of the Many). If the player relies upon energy-dependent objects, then these Batteries (and Electron Cascade) can be used to recharge them.
  • Some enemies can carry Portable Batteries:
    • Cyborg Midwives can sometimes leave behind a Battery on their corpses. As they respawn (particularly on the Hydroponics Deck), they can be a reliable source of these items.
    • Assault Robots can also be a source of Portable Batteries (potentially in bigger quantity). However, they're not a common sight and require a bigger amount of ammo to be neutralized, so it's better to hunt down Cyborg Midwives for these power sources.
    • Last but not least, Laser and Rickenbacker Turrets have quite a big probability of leaving behind a Portable Battery in their wreckages.

Trivia[]

  • A small flaw in the discharge terminal prevents the battery from being used more than once, as it fully discharges upon use. "ElectroSim", the device's manufacturers, has issued a recall for this particular type of battery.
