The Maintenance-Bot is the station's multi-armed handyman. Equipped with a heavy duty arc welder and four multidexterous vice grip appendages, this automaton can handle anything from precision circuit repairs to fixing ruptured energy conduits all at the same time. Please avoid direct contact with these diligent workers as the Station will not take responsibility for Maintenance-Bot related accidents or injuries.

The Maintenance-Bot is an enemy encountered in System Shock (Remake).

Overview[]

Maintenance-Bots are primarily tasked with going around the station's maintenance areas are making repairs. They feature multiple arms as well as an arc welder. These tools can be repurposed for combat if the need arises.

Strategy[]

Tactical Analysis[]

The maintenance bot is a relatively small, floating enemy. It's preferred form of attack is a short-range energy weapon, fired in single shots. While it looks similar to a SparqBeam shot, it's range is rather short, comparable to the Repair-Bot's flamethrower.

These enemies float, and as such will follow the player if they attempt to escape via high-ground. The small size of these bots also means they can squeeze themselves into crawl-ways and ventilation shafts alike.

Maintenance bots have a small health pool and very little armor, making them easy to defeat with just about any weapon, although melee weapons aren't recommended, as the pipe and wrench will leave the player open to retaliation, and the laser rapier will violently explode the bot, damaging the player in the process.

Their tendency to explode when hit with hard-hitting weapons (SparqBeam Overcharge for example) can be exploited if the maintenance-bot is close to another enemy as the explosion will damage them too.

Overall Strategy[]

These enemies are easily defeated using small firearms, such as the minipistol loaded with 9mm Standard ammo, or the SparqBeam. They have a tendency to drop battery packs, scrap and logic probes, so they're a good source of energy ammunition and credits.

For that reason, a hoarding player might consider delaying deactivating robot production in Level 2: Research, which will allow them to easily farm for batteries and logic probes.

Remain at Medium to Long range to engage these enemies with complete impunity.
