KF-18 Skorpion is a weapon in System Shock (Remake). Compared to the original game, the remake version has received a few appearance changes.
Overview[]
The KF-18 Skorpion can be found on the Warehouse Deck by completing a series of puzzles involving elevators as well as in various locations in the upper levels of Citadel Station. The KF-18 Skorpion is a large automatic firearm with a high magazine capacity. Due to its high rate of fire and low damage per shot the Skorpion is highly effective in close quarters combat but less effective at range. By default it is chambered in Standard 9mm Ammo which is weak against armored enemies, but can also chamber Teflon-Coated Rounds which are much more effective against armored targets.
The ammunition used by the KF-18 Skorpion is exceptionally common, especially in the upper levels of Citadel Station, making the submachine gun a reliable choice into the lategame, though trigger discipline is advised due to how quickly one can run through ammo with the Skorpion's high fire rate. The KF-18 Skorpion can be upgraded to have an increased magazine capacity and/or damage output, improving its combat effectiveness. This and many other weapons with ammo system can be reloaded in inventory menu effectively saving reload animation time. Same can be done for ammo type.
The KF-18 Skorpion and the Minipistol use the same ammunition, and thus it is advisable to choose between one or the other. While the Skorpion has improved ammo capacity, damage per second, and armor penetration over the Minipistol, the Minipistol takes up less inventory space and has improved ammo efficiency due to having increased damage per shot when fully upgraded.
