Juan Curtiz is a character in System Shock 2. Curtiz was the supervisor of the power plant aboard the Von Braun, reporting directly to Marie Delacroix.
Background[]
Curtiz and his men spent most of their time grappling with the Von Braun's faulty systems. They were under-equipped for the task of sealing and repairing the radioactive coolant tubes in Engineering, reduced to using Anti-Radiation Hypos instead of hazard suits. Curtiz had to restrict access to the deck.
For the next month, Curtiz and his men were forced to use Rad-hypos. To complicate matters, the leakages caused power short-outs that took the elevators offline, so the only reliable access to Engineering would be the Auxiliary shaft on MedSci. Even worse, it seemed only Dr. James Watts knew the code to access the shaft.
Curtiz, like much of the crew, was unaware of the spread of the Many at first. After receiving the code from Dr. Watts, Curtiz attempted to make his way to Fluidics Control to purge the leaking tubes himself, but became trapped on the Engineering Deck with some of his men by Sgt. Melanie Bronson's Turrets.
Cornered and radiation sick, Curtiz was discovered and killed by a Hybrid.
