Enrique Cortez is a character in System Shock 2. He is one of the most important members of the Resistance on Deck 5.

Background

Cortez and Frank Yang set up the transmitter in the basketball court on Recreation Deck during the takeover of the Von Braun.

Cortez is the one who set up a makeshift graveyard beneath the Garden, which would later be seized by the Many.

Cortez was aware of the Viral Proliferator in the Crew Quarters, but did not know its whereabouts.

Throughout the takeover, Cortez was in contact with Dr. Marie Delacroix.

In-Game

Cortez is one of the few Von Braun crewmen that soldier meets directly. After exiting the lift on Recreation Deck, Cortez can be seen in the crew quarters, banging on the window and apparently mistaking soldier for Delacroix. He is chased off and attacked by a Security Robot.

Trivia

• Cortez shares the same generic NPC model as most male characters in the game. As such, when he is encountered alive on Deck 5, he looks younger and has hair, even though on his profile picture he is portrayed as a bald, middle-aged man.
