EMP Grenades are a type of ammunition for the TC-11 Grenade Launcher in System Shock 2. They yield more impressive results than an EMP rifle in terms of damaging or destroying nearby electronics. However, they also come with a much lower rate of fire and a stratospherically higher cost per usage.
Overview[]
- EMP Grenades are especially effective against large robotic enemies (Maintenance, Security and Assault Robots). Depending on the player's current stats and the Grenade Launcher's modification level, a single EMP Grenade round can either heavily damage or destroy one of these enemies.
Trivia[]
- Contrary to their description, EMP Grenades are fired at exactly the same rate as other grenades, no matter the setting and the modification level of the Launcher.
- There are only two Replicators that sell EMP Grenades in the entire game:
- The only Replicator on the Von Braun that sells EMP Grenades located at the second floor of Operations Deck, midway through the crew quarters (shortly past the room with the Upgrade Units). Care must be taken while interacting with this Replicator, though – whether it is while purchasing or hacking the device – as the game will constantly spawn enemies of all kinds in this area.
- The other Replicator is found much later, on the UNN Rickenbacker, in the area crowded with Rumblers and Turrets (near the escape pod that will be launched into the Body of the Many). Likewise, enemies will constantly spawn in this location.
