Diego Cyborg is an enemy and boss encountered in System Shock (Remake). Compared to the original game, the remake version has received a number of changes.
Overview[]
When Edward Diego pledged himself to SHODAN she upgrades him with cybernetics, creating the Diego Cyborg. Each time he fights the Hacker he is upgraded. With the most drastic change being between versions 1 and 2.
Strategy[]
During the first two battles, Diego will battle the Hacker on foot in his suit of bipedal power armor. In his left hand he sports a plasma-based projectile weapon, and in his right hand he wields a laser rapier. Stick behind cover to stay safe from his plasma gun, but keep an eye on him in case he switches to his rapier; Diego can sprint extremely quickly if he wants to close the distance, and his rapier can kill you in two or three swings even with the aid of the Energy/Projectile Shield. The Turbo Motion Booster can be a lifesaver if his red sword is bearing down on you. Diego protects himself with his own energy shield when firing his plasma gun, though he often drops it when trying to close to melee. If you can escape his reach it is a good time to counterattack. Strangely, Diego cant jump, so the one can escape his laser rapier attack by jumping over the cracked bridge above the arena. As formidable as his armor may be, he is not impervious to EMP Grenades and they will leave him a sitting duck for scant, precious seconds.
Diego as actively using his teleporter, forcing the Hacker to be on high alert of a heavily armoured cyborg to appear right behind him.
During the final battle Diego's armor will be bigger and more durable than ever. He can no longer sprint, but sports a pair of shoulder-mounted rocket launchers. From his initial vantage point at the top of the arena he can rain down explosions the player will have few places to hide from. Use of Reflex Boosters is highly recommended. Killing Diego with the Laser Rapier in this battle will award an achievement.
Diego is not stupid enough to drag you to a Restoration Bay if he kills you. Should you fall in battle a Cortex Reaver awaits you no matter how many Cyborg Conversion Chambers you've reset.
