The Cyborg Warrior is an enemy encountered in System Shock (Remake). Compared to the original game, the remake version has received a number of changes.
Overview[]
Cyborg Warriors are cyborgs that repurpose parts from Security-2-Bots and Security-3-Bots. They have built in nutrition system to allow them to eat, drink, and process waste. Their heads are skulls so how much of them is still organic is unknown.
Strategy[]
Tactical Analysis[]
The Cyborg Warrior is a high tier enemy focused on defensive abilities. Sporting a very ample health-pool, these enemies further extend their staying power by utilizing an energy/projectile shield in combat. Their preferred method of attack is an energy cannon fixed to their right arm. If engaging in melee range, they will instead use an electric-arc cannon fixed to their left arm. Both modes of attack charge up quite quickly and are fairly accurate and thus hard to dodge: Be in cover.
Despite being a hybrid of cyborg and Security 2 robot, these enemies are notoriously less aggressive than Security 2 bots and will rarely attempt to push the player's position if the player is in their field of vision. As such, tactics similar to Security 1 bots and Cyborg Drones work well on these foes: peek in and out of cover to bait a discharge from their weapon, then punish the enemy while they're preparing their next shot.
The energy/projectile shield is a significant boost to the Cyborg Warrior's health pool and will require whittling it down before the borg itself can be engaged and destroyed. These shields however, can be sidestepped if the Warrior is ambushed. Try to inflict as much damage as possible before their shield is up.
Heavy weapons are recommended when fighting these hostiles due to the sheer amount of health and shielding they possess: A grenade launcher loaded with a frag grenade will do the trick. An EMP grenade is a costly alternative but is also viable. If overrun or cornered, using the railgun is also warranted. If none of these are an option, then engaging this enemy with a Skorpion SMG loaded with teflon rounds, shotgun loaded with flechette rounds, the Mag-Pulse or the Mk. III assault rifle (any ammo will do, although penetrators are superior) is bound to bring them down eventually, albeit not before they bring up their shield, which will deplete your ammunition stockpiles.
If you can ambush the Warrior, then three power-strikes with the Laser Rapier will bring down this enemy relatively quickly as well. Be sure to aim for the head and dish out as much damage as possible before their Energy/Projectile shield is set.
Overall Strategy[]
The Cyborg Warrior isn't particularly dangerous in offensive terms by the time you start encountering them in numbers, but their biggest strength lies in the sheer amount of damage they require to bring down, comparable to a Security 2 robot, if not more once their shield is up. Aggressiveness of action and ambush tactics are the best bet to bring down this type of enemy quickly.
The Warriors are notorious for occasionally dropping plasma cores as loot, so do not be afraid to invest some of your munitions into destroying them as that can result in a small stockpile of high-damage munitions to be used in the final part of the game.
Their slow pace at both movement and attacking makes them rather worthless for creating friendly fire incidents, while their formidable short range electric arc attack makes them a dangerous meatshield to try and hide behind. If engaging multiple enemies at once and the Warrior is one of them, it might make more sense to retreat and funnel the enemies into your kill-zone one by one instead of trying to engage them all at once.
Appearance[]
Cyborg Warriors are created using the legs, left arm, and possibly the torso from the Security-2-Bot or the Security-3-Bot. Their head is their skull, so how much of them is organic is unknown.
CY-014[]
CY-014 is a unique Cyborg Warrior, the only one that has a log. Notably the log reuses the picture for Brandon Scott True, implying that perhaps he was turned into a Cyborg Warrior. Although an image of a Cyborg Warrior exists in the game files so this could imply differently.
