The Cyborg Elite Drone is an enemy encountered in System Shock (Remake) and is a variant of the Cyborg Drone. It is new to the remake and is not featured in the original game.
Overview[]
Cyborg Elite Drones are upgraded and rarer Cyborg Drones, identifiable by their darker outfits. They only appear in a few locations.
Strategy[]
Tactical Analysis[]
An upgrade to the basic cyborg drone, the elite version is armed with a Magnum 2100 handgun, which they fire either in single shots or in bursts of three. Just like the regular cyborg drone, elite drones are in constant vocal communication with SHODAN, so the player is almost always sure to hear them before they see them. Alternatively, cyborgs give off a distinctive red glow due to their signature implants. If you can not see the drone itself, firing at that red glare is a good chance to hit them.
Just like with robots, once a cyborg starts firing it's burst, it will finish it, so peeking out of cover and back, waiting out the burst, then punishing it with precision fire is a valid tactic.
The somewhat smaller volume of fire and hit-scan nature of their weapons makes this enemies less useful than their basic drone cousins at dealing damage in friendly fire scenarios.
They remain an easy target for most early to mid game weapons, taking a single SparqBeam overcharge shot to defeat in most cases. A point blank shotgun shot will also make quick work of these enemies. Their relative lack of armor means that 9mm Standard ammunition is a very viable solution when encountering these enemies as well.
Overall Strategy[]
Similar to their basic cyborg drones counterparts, these enemies will drop a damaged weapon when killed, making for some credits. They will also occasionally drop some dermal patches and/or osmium rounds, albeit using the Magnum 2100 on them might be somewhat overkill. Stick to energy weapons, the minipistol/skorpion or the shotgun. If snuck-up on, or ambushed, the laser rapier will make extremely short work of these enemies as well.
These enemies are relatively rare, only being encountered a handful of times throughout the game. Because their vocalizations are the same as the basic cyborg drone, the two can be confused easily.
